HoMe DeCor4: MiNiMaL ArT-HoUsE极简艺术设计

My dear friends..every week ,one task that i perform with much enthusiasm is to blog about HD4 and getting to read your wonderful comments.Even though i don’t acknowledge each and every single one of the comments, i am very much heartened by the fact that you guys appreciate what we did and your words of encouragements made all the tiredness worthwhile..Quite a fair bit of you wanted to know my id firm’s contact and well, actually, the year of 2007 i did start up an id firm with some partners..however, year 2008 i embarked on my almost a year filming of destination most wanted and in the midst of it, my partners and i decided to fold up the businesss because me not being around is not condusive for the venture. So,the answer to your questions would be nope, i don’t have an id firm:)..not now, at least:)

This week we were tasked to go minimal…and that, my friend, is more difficult than ever! because to create the less is more effect, the few pieces of furniture that is allowed in the space has to speak volumes.Furthermore, it is not simply minimalism we are dealing with but, the additional twist to the topic is ARTHOUSE!euewwwww!!!!!!!!!!

To start off with, we have yet again a four room flat and its original state is rather minimal:)

IMG_2570.JPG

IMG_2572.JPG

IMG_2569.JPG

We decided to go with an art house showcasing love, and thus, a poem written by jarrod is stenciled onto the wall..

IMG_2594.JPG

Since it is supposed to be an art house, i decided to D.I.M a one of a kind console to house the lcd and this is the end result..

IMG_2588.JPG

And to have a drawing, i drew this version of smiling face..which did not go well with the judges, who deemed it unoriginal and a tad unfitting for the decor..Frankly, that stung quite a bit as..well…it took a whole lot of effort to draw something of this scale, given that the time alloted was less than four hours….

IMG_2592.JPG

IMG_2595.JPG

BEFORE                                                                     AFTER

IMG_2572.JPG IMG_2588.JPG

At the end of the day, we won..

The pleasure that filled our hearts stemmed from the fact that we did all the stuffs ourselves..we conceptualised,we bought the wood, saw the wood, glued the wood, painted the wood..all were done by our very own hands and the eventual result got us feeling really gratified:)

and so long live D.I.M= Do It Myself

ya hor, why the other team can get people to deliver ready made pieces ha? last time the mirrors as well… those are not DIY or DIM lor, it’s DIT (did it themselves ;p)

i love your white wall and writings, and the tv display was original and marvelous too!!! the two teams are simply in different leagues la, it’s more than win or lose liao!

Where are the pics? In this episode, I feel that both Mark and you did a marvelous job. Frankly, I was equally torn between the two of you. However, the arthouse feel is more apparent in your design, perhaps that’s why you won. Congrats! Keep up the good work!

Well Done Bryan! Don’t be too affected by the comments given by the judges… The painting is still original… As its purely drawn by you… It is not original by purchasing a painting… I simply fall in love with your special creation of the TV console. It’s SO BEAUTIFUL n tastefully done! I admired your creativity a lot. In fact i watched every episode of your “Bai Jia Le” Just to see your creation. You are our inspiration! Kudos… keep it up! Bryan ROCKS! =D

Lastly, Happy Birthday to you :) May all your wishes comes true.

    Cheers,

    Hello Bryan!
CONGRATS on winning “Home Decor Survival” again! (:
Honestly, i really like and love your D.I.M! hahas
The TV console was simply amazing! (:
Too pretty, i was hoping i have it as well. (:
Every episode you’ll have at least one D.I.M.
    And it’s really cool! (:
though i kind of agreed with the judges that picture drawn wasn’t quite erm.
fit in, but still.. it’s was nice.
So don’t really have to take the judges’ words in heart.

Anyway, wish you in advance a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (:
may all your wishes and dreams come true!

By the way, i’m also watching “New City Beat” now.
It’s still as nice as the previous one though the cast has changed slightly. :D D

    Dear Bryan,

I love the furniture and the DIM painting! You did a great job!

I felt that it is a smart move to choose furniture before deciding on the colour of paint. Painting of the wall helps to bring out the ‘feeling’ of furniture. However, Mark always choose painting before the furniture. ^^

Hi Bryan, I’m more than in love with your DIM TV console for this episode! It is SO original and out of the frame. Many would think that a picture frame is for a picture only.. but you have incorporated that into a TV console! Great job.

I have always love the feel of an art gallery, what’s more embedded with the love from the couple. I would want to paint the words of my loved ones on the walls as well, it serves as a great reminder of how it all started.. and that keeps it going :)

I hope there will be HD season 5 if possible but change the host from Mark Lee to Chen Han Wei. Cos I think he will be a good sparring partner for you since he also has good taste and a talent for designing stuffs. As for Mark Lee, I think his talents can be used better ELSEWHERE. haha. To be honest I will be quite sad if I kena Mark cos chances of losing are quite high. But of course the program is produced in way that Mark will not lose ALL episodes lah, so if you are in his team during the episode where “arrangements” have been made for him to win, then the team is lucky!

In any case, good job Bryan!

i think you did an excellent job once again!
I feel that you are already a master of drawing & painting.
Every episode is a nice piece of artwork!
I really like your style on focusing on the DIM pieces and making them an important showpiece of the house, because in worst case, owners still get to keep the DIM pieces.
They can still retain pretty much of most part of your design.
Hence, you are not a great designer, but also a thoughtful and responsible one.
Though its still a ‘game’ and ‘reality tv show’, but its still other people’s home.
But of course, I still love to see your designs win and they sure do.
    Keep it up!

Bryan, maybe you patent it and name it Bryan’s TV console, haha. I like the smiling face photo , too . It is so refreshing, funny and cute. It makes me smile and feel relax when looking at it. Good work. BRYAN, A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. ENJOY AND ENJOY

Definitely, the main purpose of the frame now,is not to hold a picture.
Afterall,it holds a tv with moving PICTURES on the screen^^

    Yupps!
    && Cheers to you too,Bryan!

    Another happy ending episode:)
Just like what the others had mentioned, you did a great job on the TV console.
Through this episode,we’ve all once again, learned something new to D.I.M.
As for the painting,I remembered you, saying that it shows a smiley face, even if it’s hanging the other way round. Sorry,if my memory’s failing me. >,<
As for me,I have no idea why, I saw it as a mirror reflection.
It's just like a picture, with a smile on their both faces.Reminding themselves to be happy,no matter what odds they will meet in future. Even if it cost the world to revolve in the other way round. Sweet~

Haix,it must be stressful for Mark to face the different themes, every week.
Since you are a strong opponent to him.
Sometimes,I wish that he could win =x
At least,he will get a little motivated to keep on going.
Well, speaking of which,I'm none as good as both of you =P
ANW,both of you are professionals. Either losing or winning, both of you wrapped things up fairly well. :) Thumbs up*

Looking forward for next week's episode. That's what I like about Tuesdays :)
Like the way how you explain, and reason everything out, while you D.I.M or even while laying out the furnitures^^

    Last but not least,HAPPY BIRTHDAY:D

    Bryan

The more I look at the smiling picture, the more I like it, the more I feel relax.
Is there any where I can buy it?
Or be a kind soul, can you draw one for me? A small one will be ok.
I will put in my office. Whenever I have office stress I will look at it, to release the stress.
    Is it a deal, Bryan?

    Hi Bryan,

I really love your works and its really sweet of you to put up pictures of the tranformation process for us readers here to recall and remember your art.

One question I have which I think you are the best person to ask:) I’m currently doing some reno on my room now and I’m thinking of painting a mural. I’m no artist but would still want to have my piece of art on the wall.. any idea if I can get some “stencils” kinda thing to help?

Thanks and keep up the good work:) Keep winning!

After watching this episode, i KNEW i had to come over to ur website to look at your superb designs again… so that when i get my own home in 3 yrs’ time, i can get some inspiration from here :D

and most importantly, i felt the need to comment that i was SOOO happy when u said on the show that literature is related to art. im a literature student and have always dreamt of painting a poem on the wall to remind me of love and its values. this episode shows me it is possible to do just that beautifully. thanks for showing us how to incorporate the elements of art into our daily lives :D
