HoMe DeCoR 4 Ep2:MoDeRn SouThEasT AsiA 现代东南亚风情
To me, southeast asia is best represented by vivid colours.. vibrant and colourful with a strong influence of green, for we are all placed at the tropical belt..The modern aspect represented by the simple lines and also, lots of wood..in raw form, as close to nature as possible. With that in mind, we forged ahead with our vision for this episode:)
The original state of this 4 room flat is simple..clean..and..well..bit of a bland

One of the better ways a dress an empty wall is to have a painting..and thus, i drew this thai/indonesia influenced drawing in its vivid colour in simple form as oppose to traditional method. This is to highlight the theme of southeast asia with a tinge of modernism:)

With this drawing, i hope to create the spiritual aspect of asia..

We made this standing lamp out of a dead log which i found at the side of a street..the amount of time spent on getting rid of the rot and outer barks took ages but the end result was awesome..with a bit of ingenuity, i got the light part attached onto the log and amidst much cheer, it lit up our little world and warmed our weary hearts…

Another DIY item would be this mirror, where great pains were taken to saw the discarded branches..two of this DIY items shows greatly how with a little bit of creativity and love for nature, we all can do our part for recycling ![]()

Sadly, victory was not ours to have…
Nevertheless, this has been one of the most rewarding days ever..with the effort of everyone, our sweat and determination transformed a dead log into a lamp that shone brightly, giving the once dead log a new lease of life..Also, parts of discarded branches lives on as the inframe decor of a mirror..
We created a new beginning..
and that’s,
all that matters:)

Bryan, fr the bottom of my heart I think you had already won. I like your creative work, drawings, etc, each time I had a chance to watch your art work on TV. Even if you didn’t won this round, I’m guess the contestants will be still happy about the DIY gifts that you had made for them. I personally feel that way if I’m them. Prizes can be bought back to the house again but the DIY works can never be found anywhere. That’s the part where I think it’s even more memorable and more worth that touches me somehow.
on December 15th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
Hi! Bryan
I was so confident that all the judges would vote your team as the winner. I was really shocked and also cannot understand why the other two judges were not on your side:(
Tonight’s competition brings my memory back to the Home Decor Survivor 1, Epi 4 – Vintage Design… We were so happy with your creativity and also, confident that all the votes would be given to our team but that day, all the judges’ eyes “dah stamps”
观众的眼睛是雪亮的…我相信谁是真正的大赢家…大家心中都有数!! 超喜欢那一幅和尚背影的画象以及你想带出的”放下”的涵意… Actually…. Tonight’s contestants are the real big winners!!! Imagine your art work done during the earlier charity show has fetched a great price of $28,888/- (I think my memory still functioning well…), the value of all the DIY stuff you did for them is definitely far more than the $6K price or $28,888/-!!!
Have you ever thought of having an art exhibition with all the art works you had done for all contestants in the past Home Decor Survivor… I am sure all of them are more than happy/proud to bring forward the artwork you had done for them, except me… because during my time, you have not started “drawing” in the show lor…
加油喔!!!
