Home Decor 3 Ep 5 “Timeless Cosmopolitan”
After much asean flavour last week, this week we tackled the task of doing Timeless cosmopolitan. The fact that it should be almost minimalist design which works on the policy of Less is More, it is far more difficult for us because, well, we are so used to doing more. Moreover, i promised that i shall not draw again, at least not for now..thus, its time to bring out the wood.
This lovely L shaped living hall of a four room flat is the contestant’s love nest.Very clean and bright…minimal decor….
Amazing that they got a movable bar counter and we shall put them to good use.
First of all, i diy this decorative time piece as the topic has got the word timeless…and who but human form is the best representative icon for cosmopolitan..
This really amazing mirror is done by ah meng and lee teng..a lot of effort has been put into cutting the mirrors…
Since simplicity is at stake..i shall keep it simple. We WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the mirror li teng and ah meng did was fab and its hard work which i saw it from tv..

well done! in comparison ur team is so much more professional and neat than mark’s team… seeing them do the painting, can faint lor!
really like the keith haring inspired human clock and framed pictures… it’s so thoughful of u to design something which the contestants would cherish in their lifetime. if they have a doggie, bet u would have created a doggie for the wall too ya? and even little things like putting the remaining wire mesh to good use as a simple, artistic and still suits the theme decoration, 真的是赢了lor!
pardon me… but me absolutely no idea what’s the meaning of those dishes mark pasted on the wall, and he didn’t bother to explain at all. so it’s indeed another convincing and well-deserved victory!

Hi,
I’m just another viewer who has no knowledge on interior design. However, I thought I’d just leave a few comments, hopefully it’s constructive:
1. There are 2 concepts I really like and admire. One of which is the coffee table which is transparent, henceforth bringing out the contrast that the mat can provide. I must say that I didn’t quite like the design of the mat the other has bought. Secondly, I like the design of the mirror which can be described in one word: unique. Good taste!
2. However, I thought that the mirror would be better off hung on the wall than just left there on the console. Wouldn’t it pose a danger to anyone who knocked it down accidentally(and waste the effort..haha)? If the design doesn’t go with hanging it on the wall, perhaps something else can be done (sorry, I’m not that creative to think of how else to handle it, but just felt that the feeling is not quite right).
3. The 2 pictures hung on the wall could be simplied into one horizontal pic that stretchs across.
Just some comments. But all in all. great job!

First of all congrats again Bryan..well..I feel that both u & Mark’s team are great..but I prefer yours..I love yourst..The human clock design 是美的咯..I simply love the whole concept of the living room..keep it up yeah! Really like to see that smile on ya face again. Seeing that you’ve regained ya confidence and the shine coming out from ya is just so enticing. =)
Glad that you’ve heed the advice given by the people here and the combination of your diy ideas and the furnitures just magically enhances the spatial dimension of the narrow living room and also adding the modern new age feel to the love nest.
Just a word of caution: Mark Lee has really improved alot. The furnitures he chosen, though different from yours, do bring out the theme effectively as well. However, the furnitures lack the interaction unlike yours. I think thats the wonder of the mirror and the lightings that you’ve cleverly utilised in the design, which he lacks. But of cos, he still has to catch up with more diy items.

i don’t think “shooting” mark with comments directly/indirectly,
is the way to show that bryan is so much better..
althou bryan’s rrly much more talented than mark,
but we can see that mark is alrdy improving and perfomming well in Home Decor 3.

I have been a fan of the home decor series since its debut and I have always been rewarded by the great works u have done. Although the show is only an hr, I think the impact u and the show have are a lot far reaching. You have demostrated that design do not have to be expensive, one just need time and effort! Continue to amaze us in the coming episodes! Congrats on the hat trick! Make it a double turkey!

Bryan, keep it up! I always hope you can win in every episodes as I prefer your designs than Mark Lee. Sometimes wonder why the judges prefer Mark Lee…must be Kelong…

heh! You know what? You’ve got talent! haha. My mum says so too. Really. I’m pretty amazed that such a simple mirror and design could make a home so homely. (]=) Good job!
Ya, saw your reply to me. Really thanks alot. I felt much better after reading it. But sometimes things really can go so bad. It’s not my mum, but rather of my sister, who sometimes can show her temper at me and my mum for nothing. It’s like it depends alot on her mood, if her mood is good she’ll chat alot with us, if not she can raise her voice and scold me for nothing. I really feel very upset and angry whenever she does this. Cause it’s like we owe her something and we should repay her by always have to bear with her black face. I hate it because she hurts me and my mum so much. And i hate it because i see my mum feel so hurt and she doesn’t know what to do. Most of the time is we giving in to her. She’s 20 this year already, i really don’t know when can she start to behave maturely and be much more appreciative of us. Sigh.

1st time visting ur blog…
like d prog v much… since home decor 1 till now home decord 3, i’ll try not to miss a single eps.
really admir ur talent.. alws had so much ideas. u must oso hv done lots of research huh…
though mark lee has shown improvements over d period, but i still prefer ur design so far. as han wei said during d 2nd eps, wat u did all links up to a story. fm d colours of d walls to d furnitures to wat ever decors/ designs.
