Home Decor 3 Ep 3 ” PoP Art Culture”
In episode three our theme is “Pop Art Culture”. Pop art dates back to the period of 1950′s to early 70′s.At that time, i guess “free love” and “hippies” were very much the representing icons of that time..not to mention dear sexy Marilyn Monroe and also the colour Pink. We geared ourselves up and prepared to move forward to the hippies movement!
After the cards were choosen, it was rather interesting that our contestant wanted mark and mark’s contestant wanted us.. After much consolation to either teams we went to their place. As you can see in the pic, it is a square living room with a mixture of furnitures..some balinese and some from the eighties..
And some chinese console with ornate chinese vases..
The windows were devoid of any curtains and the television is just sitting on a two tier platform.. notice also the oriental cornices on the ceiling, which unfortunately, does not fit into the theme.
So we got to work and did an overhaul….
Since Marilyn is such an icon of that period, we decided that we need her to grace the occasion and me drew again…
Cartoon with text such as ” Pow” “Whack” or “WOW” dominates the period and so another iconic phrase on one of the walls..
In the end, the four room apartment looked like this..
So another episode is down..that leaves us another thirteen eps…
It was good fun to visit the world of pop art..again had a good time with the contestants….
Was good to break the zero.

I’m watching Home Decor 3 right now but I can’t wait to see how the whole flat was being transformed, so I’m here doing a “sneak preview”. I love the colours and drawings you’ve done for this pop art theme. The furnitures were well chosen too. However, your assistant, Lee Teng, really cannot make it!!!! I’m really glad you’ve won this time round, though I felt that you should be the winner for the previous 2 eps as well. Nevertheless, good luck for the next 13 eps to come and I will stay tune on time every monday 8pm on Channel 8.

前两集的战果，如果真如同八卦杂志所言，是经过制作组动手脚，那牺牲了你的名誉事小（因为你的实力大家有目共睹，才不怕偶尔来三两个所谓的“专业评判”胡言乱语妖言惑众），最冤枉的还是你的参赛者，无端端得把应得的奖品拱手让人。
不过“制作人”的“用心良苦”也总算让更多人关注和谈论这个节目，在宣传来说虽不是高招，但还是有达到一定的效果。
最重要的是，提醒观众要相信自己的判断能力，你和国煌各自的设计才能已经摊开在大家眼前，到底谁该赢谁得输，公道自在人心。希望制作组也好，评判也好，千万不要侮辱万千观众的品味和眼光。

just being curious, have you studied arts or drawing before? because in the past two seasons including this current one, you really never fail to amaze me with your wonderful skills.

I must say… you really grasped the essence of the theme
When i saw “Marilynn”, i was like “Woah, Bryan is going to win!”
Though i think Mark’s was not bad too (i like the colour combi but not his painting =p)

I’m glad that you’ve finally won this round. This goes to show that the judges did uphold their professionalisms this time in their critiques of the two revamp project. I am really impressed by your initiatives to have all the conceptualizing done even before you provide your interior design expertise to the contestants. I especially liked the energy and enthusasism oozing out from you when you proposed the 3 viable concepts that portray the pop art era. Good job on the Marilyn’s portrait. My sister and I will support you all the way! Way to go!!! =P

P.S: It is also commendable that Mark’s little design gimmicks does make DIY furnishing seems more achievable by any layman person and it looks fun. His design skills did improve quite a bit but somehow, lacks the professional touch. However, at times, his unintentional efforts will unknowingly bring out a cosy, homely feeling. Ultimately, we need to ask ourselves what’s in the interior design that we are after? A showflat or a home?

but right from 1st epi, my family and i really DETEST your arrogant, show-off, useless assistant, who only knows how to talk big, but can’t work at all. really very useless, unlike mark’s assistant. we all dun like his looks also. possible to change? ’cause it’s VERY unfair to you. maybe change to the guy who always do all the physical work for you.
no wonder you lost the 1st 2 rounds. should find someone like mark’s assistant. at least he’s more sincere, humble, serious (about work) and got more respect for mark.
if there’s a pedition, i’ll definitely vote your assistant OUT. u deserve someone better.

My family then started discussing about your home decoration sense. To be frank (never offensive, ironic nor bootlicking), we think it’s pretty good especially when you start matching colours for the walls and the furniture.
However, we started wondering; whether is it really drawing that we would see you do all the time? You’re a cool artist but it soon bores people, maybe just my family though. Well, I really hope you and your fans don’t get offended. I mean no harm. Just wanna voice out my opinions. It’s of no crimes right? We would really like to see something different the next time! (:

I clapped and nearly dance around my house when the judges pronounced you are the WINNER! My hubby commented I take it too hard as it is just a show. Before it all started that night, I told him I will jump down if you don’t win this time. You can imagine the “shock” look on his face. Heng ah, you won so I don’t need to jump. Phew.

Your Marilyn Monroe is very well done. It’s not easy to achieve that effect at all. And pink is definitely the colour to go. Your wall painting colours are nice. It really have the “pop candy” effect you said.
This episode’s winner I guess, didn’t reflect the one with the best “Pop Art” culture. Just the one which is better out of the two.
Mark’s wall painting is cool too, just that the green tea boxes make it seem like a primary school project. Lime green is not the colour of the sixties. You have a competitor that’s improving quite fast. So must jia you!
Likewise with your green carpet. This green carpet actually clash with all your other furniture, I am so surprised you included this. Your “Pow Wow” painting is not nice. I feel that it spoils the feeling of your Marilyn Monroe. People always think of Andy Warhol who did the Marilyn Monroe. Something from pop artist Roy Lichtenstein would be quite complimentary too.
I hope you can accept feedback, good or bad. I am not here to flame you, just want to have an exchange of ideas and communication. Cheers!

Really loved your deco. No worries! U r a winner no matter what the results say.
Results are only figures. Your own confidence n the recognition of the masses determined the results. There r only but 3 judges but so many of us agreed u r the winner.
There4, do not b over -concerned with the results n just let your talent shine naturally. Best works r produced over time and thru experience.
Of course it is disturbing initially but u r Bryan, u can overcome. Just continue to shine.

I’ve been watching Home Deco 1 & 2 and amazed by your creativity idea and talented painting. But after you’ve got a tu di in Home Deco 3, I’ve stopped watching. Your tu di is just like a “lao shu shi” who spoilt the whole show. He not only like to qiang Jing tou and also like to talk nonsense. Can dun see your tu di in the show or not, he is very irritating and unappealing leh? His performance is worst than Ah Boon and Xiao Tian Shi. At least Mark’s tu di is more shun yan and humble than him. Not that I want to critisize him, but after watching the 1st esp. I really cannot tahan him. I love this show but now b’cos of him, I choose to forego. Really ‘kiat xin’…..
Though I’ve stopped watching the show because of that “liao shu shi”, but I still want to cheer you and give you my moral support here. Keep it up and go for it…… “zhen jin bu pa huo”, ni yi ding xing.

RED + PINK + WHITE is lovely! Really good taste…
Mark Lee may be creative at times, but good taste is something that cannot be cultivated overnight. His design on the wall with Green Tea is just like kindergarden children art work!

Home Decor was a must-see for me since it started…really really nice work you have done to all the houses…I love every episode of your show…I always love you deco and hope you will win every episode…
Mark Lee’s deco haven changed much for the paint on lights thing…the green paint appears on almost every episode since he started using it…nth new from him…But I can always long for your new creative ideas that you will try and put your best effort in….
And your partner that newly joined you…is really very irritating…I really cant tolerate his bad mouth…Keep saying stupid things on losing and stuff…I don’t know if it is a effect that the producer made up or his own idea but I think he should be helping out more, talk less and encourage you more…but he did the other wise…even my [always cool and clam] elder sister couldnt tolerate him and she even wanted to find a website/email to voice out to mediacorp on his unacceptable behavior on national tv…

Abt the Home Decor, i been watching it from the 1st season.i got to say tat Mark is really improving,eventhough he is keep repeating himselve in some way. sometime i was quite surprised with his ideal(“waw this Ah Beng do try very hard”). but he really got good team member esp that 2 uncle is work for mediacorp.. not fair actually but talent side, u r really the BEST!
However, for the 2nd espisode in this season.. i got a feeling tat u werent really full forced. Like when u only fight with ur enemy with one hand.. but i really like ur design, its good!! I was amazed by ur drawing talent.. hmm.. u r good !
BTW, is Lee Teng really tat irritating or just for entertaining effect? I find tat he can be quite “fan2″ ya.. but he is cute lah.. but give me tat feeling tat he is a clown in the show.. poor guy..:p
Anyhow, i just wanna to let u know.. u r talented, gifted, and ur design, ur painting is really amazing! Keep it up!! u have all my Moral support!

You never fail to surprise me with your drawings.
But, somehow or rather don’t find the ‘Pow…Wow’ anywhere fantastic. I mean its still ok..cause it suits the theme. But this drawing makes me feel as if its on the wall just because it was needed to fill up the somesort empty wall. Perhaps, it might have looked better if the surface area is bigger. Also, the green carpet looks kind of out…perhaps I don’t favour green, well thats my personal opinion.
Its encouraging that you’ve hatched from the egg.
Nevertheless, keep on working hard on it.
May you have the “NEVER SAY DIE” attitude! =)

Why is that most pple is not having a good impression of ‘Li Teng’? though he is not of much ‘help’ but I think he’s trying his best. Well, this is his first time – if you remember series 1 & 2. The 2 guys that we helping byran & mark, they aren’t good either, right? but look at them now? they even got their own supportor
And who knows, it might just be part of the show to have Li Teng behave this way? just to create the necc correpondents and effect .. right?

Just caught the 4th episode. I just have to tell you that the image of the Buddha which you have drawn was very very impressive. I was a bit skeptical while you were tracing the outline but it came out beautiful.
I felt that it capture the serinity and compassion of the Buddha. Good job.
